"Tehuana" Traditional Dress Magnet, Wooden

$ 4.95
Share this.

This hand-painted wooden magnet is based on the regional dress style known as "Tehuana," a city at the center of Zapotec culture in the southeast of Oaxaca.

Frida Kahlo was a huge admirer of the Tehuana style. The Zapotec culture had a strong matriarchal influence, which is probably why Frida Kahlo felt solidarity with them and adopted their dress as can be seen in many of her paintings and photos.

So much history in this little magnet!

Dimensions: 1.75" x 3.875"
